This is a photo of a Great Blue Heron, whose nest is in the trees in the background, in Terre Haute, Indana.  He was a frequent visitor to our back yard pond, and we ended up naming him Jake.  I'm not sure exactly why he got that name.  Anyway, if you'll note the sign posted on the grass, it reads, "No Swimming. No Ice Skating."  The pond was frozen over and "Jake" appears to be breaking the rules of the pond; he's ice skating!

I was in search of one today, couldn't get close enough to get a good shot.
Been getting many egrets the past 2 months.

I saw one recently on a pond near Reno... he spooked before I could shoot a pic.  ::sigh::  I love birds.  Very cute picture.
